The Bighorn river is fishing wonderfully! Expect to fish primarily nymphs right now as the fish aren’t up to eat the midges quite yet. There are also some Baetis but not in in quantities to make a day to target rising fish on them. Fish double sow bug patterns like a Ray Charles (grey or tan) with a 7 foot leader and a small log of tungsten putty. Fishing was fantastic and I expect large fish to be caught this week. Fish off the seam in the softer water. I didn’t notice the Rainbows on their beds yet but it should happen soon, be careful to avoid them if you see them.
